Makes Grilling, easy living January 4, 2008 Eddie K. Stoddard 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I've used the aluminum charcoal trays for a long
while now and really love them, but for a higher
temp indirect heat, these rails are awesome. Have
used them a lot in the last few weeks and can just
not find anything bad to say about them.
I'm surprised, but they hold the charcoal where you
want it (sides or center) and does not interfere with
airflow nor ash drop. Great product and very nice fit
into the charcoal grill, well built and not at all flimsy.
It works! July 8, 2008 C. Burdine 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
The Weber 7402 Charcoal Rails work as advertized. They are easy to install and remove yet fit firm and do not come out unintended. Simply engineered by the same people that make the charcoal grate so it fits perfectly. There are no installation instructions or diagram so for those that are dense as I was for about 5 minutes you hook the outer most cross rail and wedge the end opposite the hooks between the grates. This is for an 18 ½ inch grill so the 22 ½ inch may not be the same. As far as the practicality of the use on an 18 ½ inch grill the best you can do is one medium sized rack of ribs or a very well trimmed brisket. Flank steak and skirt steak fit perfect. Whole fish one medium fits fine as well.
Indirect grilling necessity. September 20, 2009 J. Jones 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have used these rails or a similar version for years now,and although like all the racks made my Weber they rust like mad, I wouldn't be caught without them. No more flare-ups and charred meat! These are especially useful if you have the charcoal rotisserie, temperatures stay up around 500 degrees with one charcoal chimney full of coals evenly divided between these two rails. By the time the temp drops down to around 350 or so, your chicken or pork loin is perfectly done and crisp. Charcoal racks that do the same work don't seem to keep the temps where I want them as well as these rails. I will replace mine as soon as they wear out.
Do the job September 17, 2009 S. Mikkelson (Plattsburgh, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Weber charcoal rails seem to do just what they are supposed to. We've used them once and they made using a drip pan in the center of the grill much easier.
A must have! November 29, 2009 Jon R. Gilmore (Westminster,Ca) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've been using these rails for years on various Webers that I've owned and it wouldn't be the same without them.
With these rails, combined with the hinged cooking grate, I've been able to cook a large turkey to perfection. The rails hold the charcoals back from the drip pan so you can recover drippings for gravy without charcoal and woodchips in it.
For any application where you need to cook indirectly you need these charcoal rails.
