DON'T BE FRUGAL. SPEND THE $$ ON THIS ONE. August 2, 2009 Steve Cohan (Phoenix, Arizona) 46 out of 51 found this review helpful
I rented a house in Sedona, Arizona for a month where they had a gas grill. Friends visited and grilled up some outrageous steaks and salmon. I had a little Weber Smokey Joe at home that I had not used for years. The charcoal system became too dirty and too much trouble. I never purchased a gas grill as I thought that really great tasting food could not be created on a gas grill.
When I returned home from my trip I went to Target, Walmart and Home Depot shopping for grills. Home Depot had a full-featured, large stainless steel grill on sale. Orginal price $369 - Sale price $199. The floor unit was the only one remaining unit in all the Phoenix stores. I won't mention the brand name. I purchased the grill and arranged for friends to pickup the following day as it was too big to load into my SUV. I knew it was poorly constructed but the price was too tempting.
When I got home that evening I started reading reviews on the grill that I had just purchased. Nearly all of them were negative. I saw the Webers on the floor at Home Depot. The quality was CLEARLY superior. However, they were also considerably more expensive. I decided that I wanted a pleasant grilling experience. I could not picture having friends over for dinner and having burner difficulties.
I returned to Home Depot early the next morning. canceled the original purchase and purchased the Weber Spirit E-210. I had Home Depot assemble the grill for me.
Cooking on a gas grill is a either a science or art. If you don't know how to do it, the results will be poor. I watched a gas grilling video on [...] by an executive chef from Morton's Steak House. [...]
This video got me going in the right direction. The key points are high heat preheat and closed cover cooking. You can copy and paste the link to the video into your browser.
This grill heats up to 600 degrees quickly. Everything about it is quality, quality. There is a wonderful disposable drip pan system with foil drip pans. The grill plates are heavy steel meaning you will get even heating over all of your meats. Some other reviews mention this unit as having too small a cooking area. Obviously they are cooking for soccer teams. In my opinion, this grill is big enough for any family. There is no side burner or rotisserie although an attachment can be purchased. I have a Showtime rotisserie so that wasn't a big deal for me.
I love this grill. It is truly one of the quality items that I own.
Cast Iron Grates... November 7, 2009 altos (West Coast) 26 out of 29 found this review helpful
The 210 is an excellent gas grill, far superior to the big box Char-Broils, Forge or other cheap, flimsy, cheap, poor heat, cheap... units.
One item; it is absolutely true that units sold at Home Depot have cast iron grates, not the bent sheetmetal grates sold with 210's everywhere else. The box storing the grates is marked "Genesis", not "Spirit". This makes a significant difference (IMHO) and is worth a trip to Home Depot. Check the units at the stores to be sure.
Enjoy,

This is a good as it gets for a basic , excellent quality grill. I replaced my old Weber Grill after 13+ years with this same entry level grill. It is still being made with excellent quality. Easy to read instructions & quite simple to put together. If you have put grills together that are not made by Weber, you know how difficult and time consumming they can be. Well Done Weber !!
super searing July 15, 2009 Michael St Jean (Maine) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
This grill is by far the best constructed grill out there. Don't be fooled by the very expensive stainless grills out there. The flavorizer bars and the Cast Iron cooking grates are the key for perfect flavoring of your meat. This little 26,000 BTU grill can heat up very quickly and hold heat very well. Evenly cooks, no matter where you place meat on main cook surface. Slide out grill bottom makes for unbelievable easy cleaning. drip catch pan doesn't tip or move so you don't make a mess on your deck. And I've seen how long these grills last. I haven't had mine long and I'm grilling every day now. FUN,FUN and YUM,YUM! Parts are always available if you need a burner replacement 5-7 years down the road. Much cheaper in the long run than having to replace a whole cheap grill every 3 years.
Perfect! May 25, 2009 Thomas Bricker (Pelham Manor, NY United States) 12 out of 14 found this review helpful
Just bought this grill.
I assembled it yesterday and used for the first time tonight.
Wow.
The build quality of this unit is very good.
Very sturdy.
One of the reasons I bought a Weber is because just about every other grill I checked out uses a cheaper grill material. This one has a super strong iron grill surface. Huge difference from the cheap-o grill I was using before.
I cooked burgers and broccoli. (I used a stainless steel vegetable basket I purchased separately)
Came out fantastic.
I also bought the Weber handle light.
Brilliant idea. It throws a beam of light straight down on what you are cooking when you have the lid open.
Totally worth having.
Way to go Weber.
These grills are expensive because they are simply better.
(Would have loved to get a Summit Weber, but I'd like to pay my mortgage this month too. : ) )
